Privacy
Berth has no account, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporter and no cloud sync.
What uses the network
Only these features, and only when you turn them on:
- Weather sends the coordinates you chose to Open-Meteo. A place you type is looked up once through Apple’s geocoder. Berth does not ask for location permission.
- Now Playing downloads Spotify album art from Spotify’s CDN.
- Codex usage runs your own Codex CLI, which talks to OpenAI with the login it already has.
- Check for Updates fetches the update feed.
Read on your Mac
Claude usage reads a local file written by the Claude Code status line. Berth itself makes no network request for it.
Permissions
Berth asks for a permission only when a feature needs it:
- Calendars
- Reminders
- Automation, per app: each Now Playing player; Finder, to empty the Trash; Safari, Finder, Terminal and Ghostty, for New Window
- Notifications
The support page says when each is asked for.
Problem reports
Report a problem opens an email in your mail app, for you to read before you send it. It contains:
- the Berth and macOS versions
- your Mac model and architecture
- the kind of the active profile, and how many profiles you have
- the widgets and notch readouts in use
- the state of each permission
- whether an AI connection exists
- the newest crash report, only if you tick the box
It never contains file names, paths, event titles, profile names or account data.
